Migraine Headaches

Migraine headaches typically affect one side of the head with a throbbing or pulsating pain, and can induce nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, dizziness, and vomiting. Migraine headaches have been known to last for hours to several days. While women are most likely to have migraines, anyone can have a migraine.

Seven tips for dealing with migraine headaches

  1. Since nine out of 10 headaches originated in the neck, it is recommended to see a chiropractor as soon as possible to identify the cause of your migraine and correct it.
  2. Avoid emotional and physical stress by getting plenty of sleep, learning skills to decompress (deep breathing and muscle relaxation), and avoiding stressful situations if possible.
  3. Regular exercise has been shown to help reduce migraines. It is recommended that you exercise for 30 minutes a day.
  4. Stop smoking. Smoking can cause a headache and I not only that, Smoking can make your headache worse.
  5. Never take medications that are not prescribed by your physician.
  6. Maintain good posture. Bad posture can cause subluxations in the neck, which in turn can cause headaches.
  7. Don't sit for too long a period of time. Getting up, moving around, and stretching will not only give you new focus to the task at hand but make you feel refreshed and reenergized.
